Intro

So you'd like to come to Belgrade? Get ready. Many will think you're crazy to venture into a country associated with war, hyperinflation and squat toilettes. Many westerners don't venture south of Budapest or north of Istanbul into the no-man's land called the Balkans. Let's face it, you're about to have the adventure of your life and half of it is just getting here.

A disclaimer:

In the travel world, Yugoslavia is still relatively uncharted territory.

Anyone wishing to find any decent, updated literature devoted to guiding the traveler through these parts have been shortchanged since war and the embargo made travel here unpopular. Even most recently published guides can't be updated fast enough to keep up with changes in available accommodation, services, prices and currency exchanges.

I don't claim to be an authority on Belgrade. I'm just crazy enough to live here. The information on this site is based on my experiences living here since August 1996, and the stories told to me by the handful of other foreigners residing in Belgrade.
